Job role

As Finance Officer at Greater Manchester Moving, I help keep the organisation’s finances running smoothly behind the scenes. My role covers a wide range of day-to-day finance activities, including managing purchase and sales ledgers, processing payments, reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with month-end processes.

I work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing finance support, raising purchase orders, and helping ensure financial processes are followed efficiently and transparently. I enjoy finding practical solutions, improving processes, and making finance accessible and approachable for everyone. Ultimately, my role helps support the great work GM Moving delivers across the region.

Professional background

My finance career began during the COVID-19 pandemic while I was living in Mauritius. Since then, I have built my experience within corporate finance, working across sectors including e-commerce, technology, and consulting. After moving to the UK, I continued developing my career in finance, gaining experience in financial operations, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvement.

Joining GM Moving has given me my first opportunity to work within the charity sector, which is a refreshing and rewarding experience. I am currently studying for a BSc in Accounting and Financial Management and am due to graduate in February 2027. Following this, I plan to complete my remaining four ACCA exams as I continue to develop my professional career in finance.

How movement brings me joy

For me, movement is one of the simplest ways to reset and recharge. A walk outdoors, a hike somewhere new, or even a quick session on my treadmill can completely change my mood and energy levels. It helps me clear my mind and make space for new ideas.

One thing that’s always amused me is that I grew up in Mauritius, just minutes away from the sea, yet I never learned how to swim! Learning to swim has been on my bucket list for years, and I’m determined to finally change that. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to try something new and keep moving forward.
