GreaterSport publishes Story of the Work for 2022/23

GreaterSport has published their Story of the Work report for 2022/23 highlighting the huge impact the charity has changing lives through physical activity and sport across Greater Manchester.

GreaterSport, the Active Partnership for Greater Manchester, leads and supports the delivery of GM Moving in Action, the city region’s physical activity strategy.

The Story of the Work 22/23 report demonstrates how approaches like Together Fund, GM Walking grants, Opening School Facilities, School Games and many others contribute significantly to this strategy.

The financial year saw adult active lives data return to baseline levels with 60.8% of people in the city region completing the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity every week.

There was also a significant increase in children and young people’s activity levels, with rates in Greater Manchester rising beyond pre-pandemic levels and above national rates for the first time.

The data, in addition to growing maturity across our five enablers of change, shows strong progress across Greater Manchester towards a more physically active city region.

“Our people are our biggest asset and the major catalyst for change and impact. We know that if we create the conditions for our people to be at their best, we can achieve great things together.

“This report only scratches the surface of our work, but I hope it provides partners with numerous practical demonstrations of why the work we so often deliver together is so important.

“I must thank all our partners for their unwavering support over the past 12 months and look forward to many more exciting projects, many of which are already underway, in the coming year.”
