Physical Activity Clinical Champions
Supporting better patient outcomes through physical activity training for health and social care professionals.
Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) is a free peer-to-peer physical activity training programme for health and care professionals, supporting them to improve patient care and outcomes as well as their own health.
This evidence-based training was developed as part of the national Moving Medicine Professionals programme, now led by a consortium made up of The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (Sheffield Hallam University), the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, and Intelligent Health.
Delivered online or face-to-face, the training provides health and care professionals with the knowledge and confidence to have meaningful conversations about physical activity with patients, supporting them to manage long term health conditions and reducing the demand on NHS services.
1 in 4 people are more likely to be active if recommend by a health and care professional.
However, more than half have had no specific training on physical activity.
Empowering and supporting health and care professionals aligns directly with the NHS Four Ways Forward recommendations, Core20Plus5, and Chief Medical Officers (CMO) Guidelines re harnessing the benefits of physical activity.

RCGP Active Practice Charter
PACC aligns directly with becoming an accredited Active Practice, supporting patients and staff to move more for improved health and wellbeing. Offering PACC training to your workforce counts as evidence towards the Active Practice Charter, and is suitable for clinical and non-clinical roles.
The free training can be between 1-3 hours online or face-to-face at a time convenient for your team, delivered by Jan Sinclair, who is a Senior Public Health Nurse based at Stepping Hill hospital in Stockport.
“Fantastic, easy to understand and translate to patient conversations. Really beneficial to my work.”
