Learn about the work happening within Oldham to support active lives for all
Oldham consists of seven neighbourhood areas; Chadderton, Failsworth & Hollinwood, East Oldham District, West Oldham District, Royton, Shaw & Crompton, Saddleworth & Lees.
Oldham is estimated to be home to over 242,100 people. The Active Lives results published by Sport England (November 2022-Nov 2023) shows that 65.0% of adults in Oldham are active for at least 30 minutes a week, this equates to 122,700 adults moving. However this is a decrease of 11,200 from 12 months ago and we need to all keep working together to support active lives for all in Oldham.
Active Lives data (academic year 2022-23) also shows that 69.2% of children and young people (CYP) in Oldham are moving, achieving at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, this equates to 27,200 CYP moving.
Place Partnerships aim to reduce inactivity and health inequalities. To do this we take a place-based, approach that brings together people, communities, and organisations to create sustainable solutions to inactivity.
This plan has been built from the ground up, in collaboration with residents, businesses, and partners across every part of Oldham. Through conversations, feedback, and shared insights, Oldham has developed a clear set of priorities that respond to the needs and aspirations of local communities.
