We’re proud to present our timeline of work for Moving in Madrassah.
This timeline captures the journey of this project, which is working to create safe, inclusive, and culturally appropriate spaces for women and young people to be active within madrassah settings.
The aim of Moving in Madrassah
At its heart, the project is about breaking down barriers, building opportunities and thriving. We continually work closely with female teachers and young people to co-design what “Moving in Madrassah” should look like, making sure it’s shaped by the community, for the community. With the support of Greater Manchester Moving, this pilot in Bolton has allowed us to really test, learn, and grow something meaningful.
Looking at the timeline, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in such a short space of time.
From the initial commitment in September 2025, to onboarding madrassahs and running co-design sessions, we’ve built strong foundations. Moving into 2026, we’ve already begun training female teachers across areas like ParkPlay, safeguarding, and first aid, alongside opportunities in sports such as squash and tennis leadership. The launch of ParkPlay at Haslam Park, Bolton (the very first in Greater Manchester!) will also be a big milestone. Thank you to Bolton Council’s ‘Lets Keep Bolton Moving’ team for supporting this area of work.
What’s been most powerful for the team at Krimmz is seeing people’s confidence grow, women stepping into leadership roles, gaining new skills, and creating spaces for others to take part.
And this is just the beginning.
Next steps for the project
By September 2026, our aim is to have delivery embedded across all onboarded madrassahs, creating long-term, sustainable opportunities for women and young people to be active, connect, and thrive.
I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come so far, but we know there’s still much more to do. We’ll keep building, learning, and developing this project, and most importantly, we’ll keep listening to the community every step of the way.
