The GM Walking Festival is back! Celebrating the joy of walking and being outside, the festival brings together neighbours, friends, schools, and communities, and encourages people to discover and spread the joy of the walking journey.
The Greater Manchester Walking Festival will return in May 2023 to mark National Walking Month, bringing together a range of free walks and activities organised by local residents and organisations across Greater Manchester.
Last year, we had almost 200 walks took place throughout the month, with one organiser telling us that being part of the Festival helped them “gain a number of new members and opened peoples’ eyes to the joy of walking."
Celebrating the joy of walking and being outside, the festival brings together neighbours, friends, schools, and communities, and encourages people to discover and spread the joy of the walking journey. The GM Walking Festival encourages people to get out and get active while also providing the space to discover new places and connect to the environment and people around you.
One participant told us the festival walks helped tackle social isolation after the pandemic, and “provided the chance to see parts of Greater Manchester I didn't know with a very knowledgeable local guide."
If you want to join a walk, follow us on our social channels and sign up to the GM Walking Newsletter to hear updates on when the walks go live.
