Job role: I work across the Greater Manchester (GM) city region to spread and grow the integration of physical activity in health and care systems with a communications and marketing focus.
I work on messaging campaign(s) which are guilt-free and positive, often highlighting the small steps to change that make a huge difference to people's lives and bring many lifestyle, personal and societal benefits.
There's also work to provide and signpost to training and resources, utilising the evidence led national training and resources available to ensure that all layers of the system have access to time and resources to understand the opportunities and benefits of integrating physical activity in their offer.
Date joined: August 2022
Professional background: I graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Maths and Sport Science but decided to train as a journalist at News Associates. I spent nearly five years as a news and sport journalist - first in local press in Wiltshire and then with sports press agency Sportsbeat. In September 2018, I joined the Active Partnership for London (London Sport) as a Communications Officer. I was promoted to Senior Communications Officer and then Communications Manager at the organisation before moving up to Manchester in 2022.
Fun fact: I was a Games Maker on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and a Press Officer with Team England during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
