GM Moving Conference 2024
Everyone has a role to play to keep Greater Manchester moving so we bring the movement for movement together at the GM Moving conference.
Together, delegates spend the day leading, learning and moving to enable Active Lives for All across Greater Manchester.
Colleagues and leaders from across the system, including health, education, community, voluntary and faith organisations, planning, urban design, transport, sustainability, business, physical activity and sport, attended to re-energise and refocus.
Together let's grow and diversify our shared movement and shine a light on the incredible work happening across the city region.
Launch webinar: LGBTQ+ older people’s access to physical activity and sport in Greater Manchester
Many LGBTQ+ older people take part in regular physical activity, however as a group they remain an under-heard, often invisible and lesser thought-about part of our active communities. What can we learn from listening to the experiences of older LGBTQ+ people about best practice, improvements which would benefit their participation and the factors which prevent more of their communities from becoming active? And how do we take action and respond to the concerns in ways which benefit not only LGBTQ+ communities but improve access to physical activity for all?
LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Ageing programme and GM Moving invite you to a special webinar to launch the new report ‘LGBTQ+ Older People’s Access to Physical Activity and Sport in Greater Manchester’. The findings from this research, which was commissioned by the charity GM Moving from research agency Substance, will be presented alongside testimony from community members. There will also be a chance to reflect on and share your thoughts on the next steps which are required to improve LGBTQ+ older people’s participation in physical activity and sport where they live.
This event is suitable for professionals or facilitators working in physical activity and sport, LGBTQ+ community members and anyone interested more widely in LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing/inequalities. The research report will be available to read in full via the GM Moving website on the day of the event. If you have any questions about accessibility or the event itself please email [email protected].
