Job role: Active Education Lead in the Children and Young People Team
I support the Children and Young People (CYP) team in delivering our priority plan, with a primary focus on active education. I lead and connect stakeholders to ensure children across Greater Manchester have positive, inclusive experiences with sport and physical activity.
My role involves project management and cross-sector collaboration to deliver:
- Greater Manchester School Games
- Opening School Facilities Legacy
- Active Lives CYP Survey
- CYP
- Marketing & Communications
Ultimately, I work to bridge the gap between policy and practice to support the GM Moving ambition: Enabling Active Lives for All.
Date joined: June 2023
Professional background: I hold a degree in Sport Coaching and Sport Psychology from the University of Derby. My career began in the classroom, spending several years working across primary and further education sectors in Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Rochdale, and Tameside. This gave me a deep understanding of the educational landscape before I transitioned into the private sector. There, I managed national and international partnerships, a role that sharpened my ability to connect diverse stakeholders – a skill I now use daily to advocate for physical activity.
Fun fact: In my spare time, I coach football. I once had a group that included the sons of the current Arsenal and Bayern Munich managers, as well as the son of an England right-back!
