Louise Robbins

Job role: Leading, influencing and supporting the work being undertaken to deliver Greater Manchester’s shared walking ambition to enable the greatest number of people to routinely walk for pleasure, personal or environmental benefit and travel convenience, using the principles and approaches of GM Moving.

Date joined: January 2010

Professional background: I worked in Bury for 10 years using sport as a tool for community development and managing the exercise referral programme. As Physical Activity Development Manager at Greater Manchester Moving I developed relationships to support participation running, walking and links to transport and health. I also worked with partners to develop the GM Moving Blueprint for physical activity and sport and am passionate about the way being more active can make a difference to people’s lives.

How movement brings me joy: I love being outdoors walking, running and cycling especially in greenspaces, and as part of my daily routine.  I’ve also started to focus on strength training so have been going to the gym more often.  I prefer exercising with others, and I use events as goals to keep me motivated.
