Rochdale Overview

The latest Active Lives data shows that there has been a significant decline in activity levels across Rochdale in the last 12 months. 64.3% of adults in Rochdale are now moving (active and fairly active), this equates to 112,100 adults. Since Active Lives launched, November 2015-16, the inactivity rate has increased by 1.2%, meanwhile in Greater Manchester the rate has increased by 2.6%.

When this latest release is combined with activity data on children and young people, 130,800 Rochdale residents are moving.

Demographic data

	The inactivity gender gap in Rochdale is 5.4% Since November 15/16 the gender gap has increased by 1.0%. This increase has been driven by a larger increase in inactivity amongst women (+1.2%) than amongst men (+0.2%). Learn more about activity levels related to gender here
	The inactivity socio-economic gap in Rochdale is 18.9% Since November 15/16 the socio-economic gap has increased by 1.1%. This increase is due to inactivity increasing more amongst lower social groups, NS-SEC 6-8, (+4.0%) than higher social groups, NS-SEC 1-2 (+2.9%). 	The inactivity disability gap in Rochdale is 18.5% Since November 15/16 the disability gap has decreased by 4.4%. This decrease is due to a decrease in inactivity amongst those with a long term limiting disability (-2.0%) and an increase amongst those without a long term limiting disability (+2.3%). 	The inactivity age gap in Rochdale is 27.5% Since November 15/16 the age gap has decreased by 3.5%. This decrease has been driven by inactivity falling faster amongst over 75's (-4.8%) at a faster rate than amongst 16-34 year olds (-1.3%). Learn more about activity levels related to age here
