Job role: My role as Finance Officer at Greater Manchester Moving is focused on supporting the transactional and operational aspects of our finance function. I help maintain the financial backbone of the organisation by managing key processes such as purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliations, and credit control. I also assist with month-end duties, including posting journals and identifying adjustments, ensuring our financial records are accurate and up to date.

I work closely with colleagues across the organisation to provide day-to-day finance support, raise purchase orders, and ensure suppliers are set up in line with our procurement policy. My work helps ensure that our financial operations run smoothly and transparently, contributing to the wider mission of Greater Manchester Moving.

Professional background: My background has always been rooted in business and finance, with experience spanning across diverse sectors including Charity, Construction, Education, and Research. I hold an MSc in Accounting and Finance, a BSc in Accounting and Education, and I hold ACA qualification. These experiences have equipped me with a strong foundation in financial operations, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills I bring into my role at Greater Manchester Moving every day.

Fun fact: During COVID, I was on track to complete a double award MSc in International Business and Finance with a German university. I even transferred to a Swiss university for my second semester - all online! I got to learn alongside brilliant minds from around the world, and my plan was to join them in person… but life had other plans. It’s still one of my proudest academic adventures and a reminder that learning can take you places - even if not always the ones you expect.
