Role Overview:

  • Working within the Council’s School Swimming Service to provide safe swimming lessons to Oldham Schools across the borough.
  • Working alongside the school support staff.
  • Helping to promote water safety and complete the national curriculum expectations.
  • Ability to be organised, flexible to cover lessons at short notice and an understanding of child development/behaviour and safeguarding.
  • There may be opportunities for regular weekly term time hours depending on the service needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching swimming to Oldham Primary school children
  • Administration of class records
  • Ongoing Lifeguard Training (one session per month)
  • Involvement in the water polo and School Galas

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of ASA level 2 or equivalent in Aquatics
  • NPLQ Lifeguard qualification or equivalent
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Knowledge of water safety and personal survival
  • Be competent in using computer technology
