Tameside Adult Activity Levels November 2018-19

The latest Active Lives results published by Sport England shows that 72.7% of adults in Tameside are active for at least 30 minutes a week, this equates to 130,800 adults moving. This is an increase of 1,600 from 12 months ago.

27.3% inactive, 12.6% fairly active, 60.1% active

These results continue the positive trend in Tameside, there has been an increase of 3.1% in the number of adults moving, )active and fairly active), since Active Lives launched in November 2015-16. This is a greater increase than both England (1.0%) and Greater Manchester (2.3%).

Changes in inactivity

Since the first Active Lives release, (November 2015-16), Tameside has seen a decrease in inactivity levels across the majority of cohorts. The exceptions to this are those aged 16-34 and middle income categories. The largest decreases in inactivity have been amongst those aged 55-74 with a 10.6% decrease, those with a long term limiting disability, a 7.1% decrease, and those aged 75+, a 7.0% decrease.
