Sport England invest in National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to govern, grow and develop different sports and activities. We bring them, along with other System Partners, together through our Sport Connect Forum.
Across GM Moving, there is excitement and energy to work with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and System Partners, and to deepen our focus on sport. Together, we are building on work supporting under-represented communities to access sport and physical activity in ways that work for them. This commitment has led to us hosting the Sport Connect Forum, bringing people together and strengthening connections in sport within and across sectors.
Connecting national priorities to local communities – ensuring national priorities connect with local needs, and opening doors to community partnerships
Supporting inclusive, place-based delivery – supporting national partners to adapt products and programmes for local contexts, place and spaces
Sharing local insights and data – providing local intelligence on participation, inequalities and community voice
Building workforce capacity - offering training, workshops, events and communities of practice and learning to support the workforce, paid and voluntary
Facilitating partnerships – linking NGBs and System Partners with cross-sector partners, such as education, health, local authorities and voluntary sector organisations
Celebrating success – amplifying stories of impact and sharing best practice across networks
The GM Moving Sport Connect Forum takes place quarterly, aiming to bring together NGBs and system partners to build relationships and explore opportunities to collaborate and share best practice.
Previous topics have included Children & Young People, Women & Girls, Health, Welfare & Safeguarding, and Club Development. This provides partners with an opportunity to connect to different GM Moving priorities and to each other.

Following the success of these events and desire to build on the network, we are committed to create opportunities for sport colleagues to continue to develop stronger relationships and connections. These relationships are being built with each other, with GM Moving, and with other system partners working to address inactivity and inequalities.
