January has kick started our 2017 Greater Manchester School Games Programme with the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Badminton competitions, with an incredible display of passion and talent from 385 KS3 & KS4 Pupils from across the county that had qualified to compete and represent their borough.

The competitions took place at the Ameachi Centre and saw some of the best young Badminton talent from  across Greater Manchester compete to be crowned the Greater Manchester Champions. It was a successful 2 days for both Trafford, Wigan and Manchester with Altrincham Grammar Girls School Winning both the KS3 & KS4 Girls Events, Manchester Grammar School winning the Boys KS3 Competition and St Peters Orrell winning the KS4 Boys competition

“It was great to see so many pupils from a variety of schools across Greater Manchester taking part at the event. After hearing the young people’s feedback, it was obvious what a great success it had been. The School Games events are a great opportunity for young people to get involved in sport for numerous good outcomes upon their health, fitness and well-being.”

The next Greater Manchester School Games events will be the Basketball. The U14 and U16 events will be running the week commencing 30th January.

The winter festival, featuring over 20 competitions, across 16 sports and 15 venues takes place on the 21 March 2017.
