With disabled people twice as likely to be physically inactive than non-disabled people, we at GreaterSport are committed to improving inclusivity within Greater Manchester physical activity and sport provision.

To start this process, we have launched GM Inclusion Pledge Cards to help sports clubs become more inclusive. They are designed to allow clubs to raise awareness of what their club can offer to the whole community, as even small acts will make it easier for people with disabilities to become more active. We hope that by making a public pledge, clubs will commit to the changes, in turn improving inclusivity across the region.

Examples of possible pledges are;

  • Ensuring there is a disabled parking bay at the clubhouse.
  • Ensuring the clubhouse has a radar key for an accessible toilet.
  • Ensuring all staff/volunteers have taken part in disability awareness training.
  • Create a new inclusion programme within the club, such as setting up a disability team within your club.
